Audi A3: Ring in the new
Did you know that Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, is actually three towns in one? It’s an amalgamation of the towns of Buda and Obuda on the west of the enchanting Danube river, and Pest (not surprised the residents would want a new name) to the east.
Once on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain, today, Budapest in particular and Hungary as a whole are on the rise. It’s very European in its mix of people and their way of life, but there is still that old-world charm to its numerous buildings and relatively easygoing way of life. Especially when you compare it to Europe’s other bustling cities. The old and the new seem to coexist in perfect harmony. So, is it just a coincidence that we are here to drive Audi’s new A3 sedan?
The marquee from Ingolstadt has some history in Hungary. It is in the northwestern town of Gyor, which houses one of the world’s biggest automotive engine manufacturing units. The first A3 sedan was also made here – at the very place that also made the earlier Audi TT.
