BMW 6 series Gran Coupe: Subtly brutal
The Gran Coupe gets the bulk of its design cues from the original two-door coupe. The front and rear are near carryovers, although there are now some unique bits like the chrome strip separator between the air intake and the front fog lamps. The Hofmeister kink that flows into the C-pillar has the words Gran Coupe embossed on it rather stylishly.
The car is noticeably longer now, which makes it look sleeker and closer to the road. In profile, you notice why the extended wheelbase happened – to fit in the door for the rear passenger. These are also frameless, as they should be in a proper coupe. But unlike the coupe/convertible, there is now a proper rear bench with a foldable backrest for increased bootspace.
