Comparo: TVS Apache RTR 160 4v vs Suzuki Gixxer ABS

You've got to start somewhere. Get yourself a litre-class motorcycle to learn on, and you'll end up with your insurance company on speed dial. Heck, if you get yourself a Duke 390, things would probably be the same. You need something friendly to get the basics in place before you move up the cee-cee ladder, and for the longest time, the Suzuki Gixxer was the go-to motorcycle for this very essential task. It checks the right boxes – manoeuvrable in the city, friendly in the twisties and has adequate punch, but not enough to scare you witless.

However, there is a new sporty commuter in town. The TVS Apache RTR160 4v takes all that we love from the bigger-engined Apache 200 and packages it in to a friendlier 160cc package. Many have taken on the Gixxer in the past, only to be schooled on how to be a complete package. Does the Apache have what it takes to change that?
