Feature: When nature calls

There’s something magical about Spiti that gets me all excited at a mere mention of the surreal valley. Its magnificence is beyond words. The vastness of the barren mountains, the tranquillity of its river, the uniqueness of the age-old monasteries, and the simplicity and warmth of a Spitian home can teleport you to another universe altogether. For me, that’s been my calling ever since I first stepped on its untainted terrain back in 2010.

And then there’s the whole charm of traversing from the concrete jungle to ultimately surrender yourself to the Trans-Himalayan ranges. It’s truly a ‘one-of-its-kind’ experience. You know what else is in a class by itself? The Volvo V90 Cross Country. It’s a real gem from Sweden, a car that its makers would want you to believe is “one car for many occasions”. And that’s exactly what we’re trying to figure out in one of our mega tests this year.

In my opinion, the V90 CC is a car with split personalities; it’s an estate on steroids, a luxurious family car that also promises to take you to the roads less travelled with ease. No wonder then, that we found ourselves gleefully driving it down to the Middle Land.
