Honda Brio AT vs Maruti Ritz AT
These two models might not grab your attention on most days but with the arrival of an automatic gearbox, they join a very elite list — the list of affordable automatic hatchbacks, which is just one per cent of the hatchback market.
Both cars get 1.2-litre petrol engines. The Brio’s i-VTEC unit generates 87bhp while the Ritz’s VVT-unit produces 85bhp. It’s hard to choose between the two when it comes to engine refinement, but the Honda has a very marginal edge at idle. But this difference is only visible when you drive both the cars back-to-back – otherwise, the Ritz is right up there in terms of engine smoothness. Both engines love to be revved hard.
