Jaguar XKR
Ever tried bungee jumping? I haven’t. But I’m sure it’ll be the most exhilarating few minutes of your life. And that’s the one thing that came to my mind when the speedo needle on the Jaguar XKR Supercharged kept climbing up its binnacle. The other thing was value for money.
Yes, you read right. Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged, V8-powered 503bhp monster is actually shattering value if you consider its immediate competition . Mercedes SL350? A very feeble 3.5-litre V6 making about 315 horses. Yours for Rs 1.14 crore on-road. Aston Martin’s Vantage has a 4.7-litre V8 that makes 420bhp. And that’s Rs 1.35 crore just in the showroom. BMW’s 650i convertible makes 407bhp out of its twin-turbo V8. For getting that on your driveway, you’ll have to pay Rs 1.22 crore. Even the coupe is Rs 95 lakh. The most basic version of our favourite, the Maserati GranTurismo, is a cool Rs 1.53 crore. And that’s just the 4.2-litre V8 making about 405bhp.
