Launched: Triumph's range for India
Taking its name from the legendary salt flats in Utah, the Bonneville is quite possibly the most iconic Triumph there has ever been. Steve McQueen immortalised it in The Great Escape, and daredevil Evel Knievel attempted his most ambitious jump at the time over the Caesar’s Palace fountains on one of these. The stunt ended in lots of broken bones for Knievel, but it also shot him into the limelight.
Anyway, today, the Bonneville continues in two basic guises – the Bonneville and the Bonneville T100. The Bonneville is the modern-day interpretation of the the most-loved Triumph of all time. It uses an 865cc parallel-twin motor that makes 67bhp and 68Nm of torque. It is also the cheapest bike in the range (though not quite as cheap as you would've expected), so your Bonnie doesn’t have to lie over the ocean anymore. You can have it, for Rs 5.70 lakh, ex-Delhi.
