Porsche Cayenne vs BMW X6
That’s that? No. Sorry. This is a no-nonsense comparison. The point of this is to very simply tell you which car is better. The making of this story did not see any of us get into any trouble. There are no dogs, no shopping trips, no tyre smoke, no TopGear histrionics. Which is a bit mean of us.
Because when we posted our previous comparison between the Merc CLS, Audi A7 and BMW 6 (TG, March 2013) on our Facebook page, it got over 1080 likes (and counting). And that story involved a beanbag, some wine and a dog among other things. But we thought that’s the easy way out – be a bit creative, put in a bit of fun and frolic. And we are done. For this though, we want to be serious. We want to stick to the book. We want… oh look… an empty plain, lots of dust… Wow. Rocks. Oh well. Chuck the book.
Because the Porsche Cayenne Diesel and the BMW X6 40d are incredible machines. Alright. Tell us they are mutation experiments gone wrong. Tell us they are immoral marketing tactics. Tell us they soil the purity of sportscars and off-roaders in trying to be both. If you are done telling, let me give you some perspective. In the 1970s, a Lamborghini Miura could hit 100kph in about 6.7 seconds. By the ’90s, a Ferrari Testarossa could do the 0-100 in 5.3 seconds. They were low, light, mid-engine, V12 supercars.
