Trucks of the Defense Expo 2012

The Defense Expo 2012 has brought us a new wide range of cool, oddly shaped, bulletproof utility vehicles designed to withstand any terrain.

We have a few highlights from Ashok Leyland and AMW who are exhibiting trucks that will be vital tools on the modern battlefield. From the basic truck to hydraulic 8-wheeled monsters, it is all on offer.  The Indian Army, which is the third largest in the world, will closely follow the new developments as they purchase 7,000 trucks a year.

The exhibit in Pragati Maiden, New Delhi will run across the weekend and end on April the 1st, so drop in if you’re in Delhi.

We take a look at some of the interesting ones on display, starting with Ashok Leyland COLT light tactical vehicle (4x4), fierce but fast with 34bhp per threatening tonne. It is equipped with a high performance chassis, a unique suspension system and an innovative patented armoured hull. It is a battle proven piece of kit with 2,000 of them being used across 15 countries.
