Twin test: Audi TT vs Mercedes SLK
The SLK on the other hand has a larger cabin, sportier seats. We love those SLS-style aircon vents, but it doesn’t excite you as much as the TT. It’s nice, quality levels are good, but it doesn’t have the TT’s sense of occasion. And when you realise there are no rear seats and no space behind the seats, you begin to appreciate the Audi that much more.
On paper, the SLK has a clear advantage. Its 3.0-litre engine belts out 309 horses. The TT, with its 208bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder, almost looks frail in comparison. So we started the climb up to Lavasa knowing the SLK would lead the charge up to the hills. With a difference of 100bhp, you wouldn’t blame us.
