THE ESTD, owned by InterGlobe Enterprises (yep, the guys who own IndiGo airlines), and the official distributor for the Swedish Hyper car maker, Koenigsegg, and Vyrus motorbikes, have announced the launch of the Ariel Atom range for India.

For those unaware, the Ariel Atom isn’t your regular road car, even though it is technically road-legal. It's meant to be more track-friendly so you wouldn't find any unnecessary extras like doors, a roof, or even body panels. What you do get are two seats and Honda’s 2-litre i-VTEC engine. These engines have been specially tuned by Ariel and are capable of pushing the 450kg car to 100kph from a standstill in a mere 2.5 seconds. That’s the same time that the Bugatti Veyron.

The Atom will be available with 245bhp or 300bhp engine options. The Ariel Atom’s price ranges from Rs 55 lakh to Rs 85 lakh. Ariel’s Atom V8 beat the Bugatti Veyron’s lap time earlier this year by 1.7 seconds on the TopGear test track, making it the fastest road-legal car to go around their track.
