We in India might not know this, but Audi has a lineup of cars below the A4 as well, which includes the A1 and A3. The A3 is an important model for the German carmaker, as it is sold in hatchback, sedan and estate formats in most of the major markets around the world.

This year, the Audi A3 line of cars has won the World Car of the Year 2014 title, and just in case you are wondering how this affects you in India; soon Audi will start bringing the A3 sedan to a showroom near you. Internationally, the car is not only sold in different body styles, but it also comes in CNG and electric-hybrid variants. In India expect Audi to stick to conventional petrol and diesel engines to keep costs in check, since this will be the entry-level car for Audi in India.

Just to give you an insight on the selection process for Car of the Year 2014, the A3 was competing with 23 other cars. It was voted as the winner by an international jury panel comprising 69 automotive journalists from 22 countries around the world.

Now we have to patiently wait for Audi to give us a confirmation on the exact date the carmaker will bring the A3 sedan to our shores. Are you looking forward to it?
