Ford unveils the new Figo Concept

Not to be lost in the crowd at the Auto Expo, Ford gave us a glimpse of the new Figo compact sedan concept today...

There's no doubt that the Figo was hugely responsible for changing Ford's fortunes in India. It also won a TopGear award. Now, it may seem like a trend of putting a boot on hatches and calling them compact sedans (Tata's only just unveiled the Zest), and the Figo Concept is more on the same lines.

As of now, the car looks great, especially at the front thanks to the aggressive grille and headlamps. The car might be less than four metres long, but the wheels have been pushed to the corners to maximise cabin space.

Ford was stingy with the details today (we expect to get some more details during the Auto Expo), but we do know that Ford is planning on integrating its famous Sync technology into it, which should come bundled with a host of other features like navigation powered by MapmyIndia, and even internet radio.

Though production is sometime away, expect the Figo Concept to tap into the wide variety of engines that Ford puts under the hood of the EcoSport. Needless to say, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will also be available.

Being a sub four-metre design means that Ford can take advantage of the tax benefits and price the Figo Concept aggressively.
