Gautam Singhania races a Ferrari 458 Challenge at the BIC...
...and smashes the record for any non-open wheel car to have ever driven round the circuit
Mr. Gautam Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director at Raymond, is a true-blue petrolhead. As you may have read earlier, he unveiled India's first drift machine sometime back after securing a win at the European Allstars Drifting Championship. Now, he's set the fastest lap-time for any non-open wheel car at the Buddh International Circuit.
Caning India's only Ferrari 458 Challenge, Mr. Singhania managed to clock 1 minute, 59 seconds on one of his laps as he broke the previous record (again, set by him) of 2 minutes, 1 second that had been set only days ago. Not surprising because on the first day, he managed 98 laps around the circuit, and 109 on the following day. That's more than 500kms of flat-out driving on an average.
Speaking after a few of his laps, Mr. Singhania said, “It is a great experience to be on this world-class track and to be racing along with motorsport enthusiasts. India with its large base of auto lovers has the potential to be on the global motorsports map. While supercars and speed have always been my passion, I believe that such track days and achievements on the track will instill confidence in India’s youth to take to motorsports seriously in the future."
