The 'Grand i10 sedan', which was nostalgically dubbed the Xcent during the Auto Expo, was finally launched today – bringing Hyundai into the sub-four-meter compact sedan race. But it's more than just a boot add-on on the Grand i10, insists Hyundai, who has added a number of features unique to the Xcent.

The front of the car shows Hyundai's 'fluidic' design theme with swept-back headlamps, chrome finish hexagonal air dam and a tweaked front bumper. The Xcent has some pretty nifty looking 'diamond-cut' alloys and chrome door handles. The boot, which is clearly the highlight here, comes with wrap-around tail lamps and dual-tone rear bumper. And at 470 litres, its also the biggest in its class.

The cabin sports a dual-tone beige colour scheme with an audio system that's straight from the Grand i10, with 1GB internal storage. There are a good number of storage options including a centre console storage and cooled glove box. Leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob give it a premium feel. Other features include push-button start/stop, reverse parking sensors with camera, electro-chromic mirror and electronically folding ORVMs.

Mechanically, it's the same as the Grand i10 with the 82bhp, 113Nm, 1.2-litre petrol Kappa2 engine and a retuned 71bhp, 1.1-litre diesel U2 engine making 180Newtons. For the petrol, there is an option of either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox, while the diesel is teamed with a 5-speed manual only. The Xcent is available in three trims, base Entry, S and SX, with the latter two getting option kits as well. Surprisingly, ABS and dual airbags are available only as an optional kit.

Introductory prices start at Rs 4.66 lakh for the base petrol variant and goes up to Rs 7.38 lakh for the top-end SX (O) diesel. Prices ex-showroom, Delhi.

Here's the complete ex-Delhi price list:
