JLR commences bookings for Range Rover Sport SVR and SV Autobiography
Land Rover’s flagship SUVs are now available for booking. What are you waiting for then?
While the Germans are tempting us by bringing their high-performance variants to India, JLR too is bringing its big guns here. After launching the F-Type SVR a few days ago, the British car maker has started taking orders for the Range Rover SV Autobiography and the Sport SVR. Now, when JLR says the Sport SVR is their fastest SUV, they mean it.
The in-house boffins at Jaguar’s SVO facility have given the Sport more power than ever before. The 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 now produces 567bhp and 700Nm of torque. But that adds weight and the Sport SVR tips the scale at about 2.6 tonnes. Don’t get fooled by its huge physique though, it still can sprint from standstill to 100kph in 4.5s and will max out at 260kph. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the Autobiography will be available in two variants – standard and the long wheelbase. The standard one houses a 4.4-litre diesel which puts out a modest 335bhp and 740Nm of torque. The LWB, on the other hand, is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 which produces 10 fewer bhp than the SVR.
The SV Autobiography comes with loads of bells and whistles. It gets power close rear doors, a concealed refrigerator, pixel-laser LED headlights with DRLs and a Meridian sound system and 24-way massaging seats. And oh, did we mention that these features are standard on the Autobiography. The SVR, however, is equipped with lightweight performance seats, carbon fibre hood and an active exhaust system which produces all sorts of pops and bangs.
While the SVR will lock horns with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Mercedes GLS AMG, the Autobiography, though much more expensive, will look to take the fight to the big dogs of this segment – the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and the Volvo XC90.
