It was a sight. Watching properly suited Europeans gingerly approaching the traditional and tall Indian lamp to light it. But as the flame touched the Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO, Automobili Lamborghini announced the showroom open.

Lamborghini has tied up with AutoHangar to provide sales, service and support for all Lamborghinis in Mumbai. Based out of Prabhadevi, in Mumbai, this is the second dealership for Lamborghini in India after Exclusive Motors that handles sales and support of the supercars in Delhi and surrounding territories.

Winkelmann predicts that by 2015, Lamborghini will sell about 50 cars in India before the Urus SUV (currently a  concept) hits showrooms. “So far, I think infrastructure has been the main hindrance in doing big numbers in India. But the Urus is definitely on the cards and this SUV will be a major driving force for us in India”, he said.

The company now plans to expand its operations in India with a dealership in the south. So Mr. Mumbaikar, are you planning to step in for a touchy-feely?
