Launched: 2018 BMW 3-Series GT
The beefed-up version of BMW’s best-seller gets a mid-life update
BMW had launched the 6-Series GT a couple of months ago and we were mighty pleased with it. And now it’s time for BMW’s smaller Gran Turismo to be in the limelight, the 3 GT. After being around for few years now, the 3 GT gets an update.
Like before, it’s longer, taller and wider than its sedan version, and this increase in proportions mean that there’s more cabin and boot space on offer. While the earlier model opted for a more curvy façade, the 2018 one has opted for a more sharper and angrier look. The 2018 3 GT is equipped with adaptive LED headlights with auto high beam assistance, active rear spoiler and some chrome detailing around the car.
On the inside, it’s all typical BMW business. It is equipped with a 10.5-inch multifunction display, BMW’s iDrive system, Apple CarPlay, front seats with memory function, two-zone automatic climate control and a 250W sound system.
The 2018 3 GT is powered by a 2.0-litre oil-burner which churns out 193bhp and 400Nm of torque. Well, that’s a bump of 9bhp and 20Nm of torque. This slight increase in power helps the 2018 3 GT to shave off 0.2s of its 0-100kph time, which now stands at 7.7sec. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. And oh, launch control comes as standard in this car. In terms of safety, it gets ABS with brake assist, CBC, DSC, side-impact protection, airbags and front and a rear-view camera.
The 2018 BMW 3 GT is priced at Rs 46.6 lakh (ex-showroom).
