Launched: Audi A8 4.2 TDi quattro
Audi gives its flagship limo a yet another engine
What if you have a sweet dilemma of having a crore lying in your bank account waiting to be spent on something special?
Well, Audi has a solution for you in the form of new A8 L 4.2 TDi. As the name suggests, it’s a 4.2-litre turbo diesel V8 engine that powers all four wheels via Audi’s patented all-wheel-drive system.
The new engine, which is also available in the Q7, puts out 350 horses, which might not sound like much, but wait for the torque figure! It’s a mind-boggling 800Nm. Yes, you heard that right! Armed with all that firepower, it can hit a 100kph in 5.6 seconds.
The standard and optional features that Audi has stuffed in the A8 are endless. From massage seats to night vision assistant with pedestrian marking to upholstery of any colour, you name it, you got it. In India, Audi sells only the extended wheelbase version of the A8. That’s stretched by 13cm compared to the regular version.
The standard A8 4.2 TDi can be yours for Rs 1.07crore, but depending on how deep your pockets are, Audi will happily sell you a few optional extras.
(Prices are ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
