Launched: Audi Q5 petrol at Rs 55.27 lakh
Same 2.0-litre petrol unit as in bigger brother Q7 but makes 248bhp and 370Nm in the Q5
The second-gen Q5, which was launched a few months back, was available with just one engine option – a 2.0-litre diesel. Now, the German car maker has launched petrol-powered Q5 at Rs 55.27 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 2.0-litre TFSI motor produces 248bhp and 370Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In comparison with its diesel counterpart, the petrol motor has 59bhp of excess grunt. With this much of extra power at its disposal, the petrol will sprint to 100kph from standstill in 6.3s. That’s 1.6s quicker than the diesel-powered Q5. “In line with our petrol strategy, we clearly want to increase the contribution of petrol variants in our total sales and with the launch of the Audi Q5 45 TFSI, our entire Q range is now available with petrol options," says Rahil Ansari, Head, Audi India.
What about the changes? Well, other than the engine, the car remains the same as its diesel-powered cousin. It still gets most of the tech wizardry which the carmaker has to offer. It gets Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, an 8.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation and multimedia functionality, wireless phone charger, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In terms of safety, it gets 8 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, hill descent assist, rearview camera and parking sensors. The petrol Q5 rivals the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the recently launched BMW X3.
