Mercedes discreetly launches another new car. Don’t be fooled… it’s not the refresh, just a model year change

Only days back, Mercedes revealed the facelifted CLS internationally. It's got new headlamps, the brilliant diamond grille and even sharper curves. And just while we were done drooling over the new design, we saw a press release in our inbox that announced the arrival of the new model year CLS – the 2014 one.

But don’t get too excited just yet, it’s not the facelift that has been introduced. This one almost looks like the previous one, which itself is not a bad-looking car to begin with.

You needn't be disappointed – with this model year, Merc has decided to go easy on your pocket if you’re planning to buy the CLS. And that too not by a few thousand, but by almost close to Rs 10 lakh! The CLS' price is now Rs 89.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The only grouse that we had with the CLS was that it was available only with the not-so-new 3.5-litre petrol heart. And that continues even with this MY2014. Just like the older model, it’s mated to a seven-speed transmission.

With this new model, Merc has brought along a few goodies to the party – a new instrument cluster with three-dimensional displays, Active Park Assist, new alloy wheels and a reversing camera.

If the price drop and the new features don’t thrill you too much, you have no choice but to wait till the refresh is here.

One thing's for sure: we’ll get our hands on this CLS in a few days. So till then, tell us if you think you’ll go for this gorgeous German, or if you'd prefer the Audi A7 or the BMW 6 series Gran Coupe.
