Mercedes seems to be going full steam on delivering on its promise of launching 10 cars in 2014. Its fifth release of the year is the diesel-engined S-Class, which should make high-end luxury a little more affordable at its price of Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).

The S500 was launched at the beginning of this year, following which Merc commenced local assembly of the S-Class at its plant in Chakan. Today, it announced that it has even started locally sourcing the S-Class' body components and paint job in India.

The S350 CDI features a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces 258bhp of power and 620Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

The interior of the S350 CDI features seven-colour ambient lighting with five dimming options, two 10-inch TFT screens at the rear, and a two-spoke steering wheel with controls. Mercedes is especially boastful of the new S' 'hot stone massage' feature in the rear seats.

So five cars down, and five more to go. Mercedes doesn't seem like it's going to slow down anytime soon in the Indian market.
