In Volvo speak, the XC90 is for elegance, the XC40 is for fun, and between them, there’s a scope for dynamism, which where the all-new XC60 comes in. And dynamic it surely is as we’ve had a go in the all-new XC60 in India recently, and we liked what we saw. It’s quite an important model for Volvo globally, no wonder then barely six months after its international rollout, Volvo has launched its hot-selling XC60 in India.

Available only in the top-spec Inscription trim, the XC60 D5 gets all the bells and whistles Volvo is known to offer its SUVs with. Powered by a 2.0-litre twin turbo D5 diesel unit, it offers 232bhp and 480Nm of pulling power is teamed with an 8-speed auto box that sends power to all four wheels. In terms of safety, there’s everything you’d think of; seven airbags, ABS, park assist, pilot assist, lane keeping aid, blind sport assist, 360 degree camera, City Safe function and the likes.

As for creature comforts, the XC60 gets the same Thor hammer LED DRL’s like the XC90, the centre console is laced with a large 9 inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 15-speaker Bowers and Wilkins, 4-zone climate control, leather upholstery, massage function for front seats, ventilated seats and adaptive cruise control to name a few. Longer, wider and shorter than before, the all-new XC60 is launched at an introductory price of Rs 55.90 lakh, ex-showroom, and this helps it compete head on with the likes of the BMW X3, Mercedes GLC and the Audi Q5.
