Dubai likes everything big and flamboyant. Everything that's an epitome in it's own way. Here, it's the best or nothing. No wonder Audi chose this city to launch it's uber-luxurious flagship sedan, the A8L.

Mercedes put out its version of extreme-luxury-on-road a few months back in the shape of the new S-Class, and Audi isn't a company that'll sit quietly. So there you are, the new Audi A8L. Yes, it's not an all-new car, but an update. The biggest change on the updated A8 are its new headlamps. They are not your regular units, but something that Audi calls 'Matrix LED headlamps'. Essentially, it's a bunch of LEDs that reduce the glare on oncoming cars, while providing perfect illumination for the A8's driver.

Moreover, the sky is the limit when it comes to personalising the A8 - it's available in 100 exterior colours and 23 colour options for the leather upholstery.

For now, Audi is launching the A8 with three engine options - the 3.0 TDI and 4.2 TDI diesels, and the 4.0 TFSI petrol block. The fastest of the lot is the 4.0 TFSI that takes the A8 to 100kph from standstill in just 4.6 seconds.

The A8 comes with features like a head-up display, Park Assist, surround camera, wireless internet access among others.

Of course, if you're going to be looking for luxury, you're not going to get it cheap. The updated A8L starts at Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Think the Audi A8 has it in it to beat the best car in the world? Tell us in the comments below.
