Launched: second-gen Amaze at Rs 5.6 lakh
With a competitive price, the 2018 Amaze also offers a segment first diesel CVT
A few years back, the compact sedan segment was mostly ruled by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent, but with contenders like the Tata Tigor and the Honda Amaze, the segment leaders have something to worry about. Most of the cars in this segment have already received a refreshed look, but not the Amaze. Now though, Honda has launched the second-gen Amaze at Rs 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s not a facelift or a mid-life update; it’s a proper generation change for the Amaze. The 2018 Amaze is a tad bigger than its predecessor, which results in an increase of 20-litre of boot space. It has LED headlamps, cruise control, 15-inch alloy wheels and a big, fat chrome bar at the front just like the City and the Accord.
The inside too has been redesigned from the ground up. The Japanese carmaker has given its compact sedan a new dashboard layout, a touchscreen infotainment display with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, GPS navigation, Android Auto and voice command system.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.5-litre manual oil-burner churns out the same amount of power as the previous one. With the second-gen Amaze, Honda has introduced a first-of-its-kind diesel CVT. The diesel automatic produces 79bhp and 160Nm of torque at 1750rpm. In terms of safety, it has dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera with sensors and rear windshield defogger.
The second-gen Amaze will be available in four trims – E, S, V and VX.
