Lexus LX 450d price announced
Prices for Lexus' flagship SUV in India are out. You might want to sit down...
Lexus finally arrived in India a month and a half ago with three models in the lineup. At the launch, they showcased all of them but declined to announce the price for its flagship SUV, the LX 450d. But now they have and the final figure is a bit... outlandish.
The Lexus LX 450d is based heavily on the Toyota Land Cruiser. It's powered by the same 4.5-litre V8 which makes 262bhp and 650 torques. It borrows the same 4WD system as well as the 6-speed automatic gearbox, and they also share off-road features like multi-terrain select, multi-terrain monitor and turn assist. What you don't get on the Land Cruiser, however, are drive modes, which you do get with the LX.
The LX's feature list is lengthier than the Land Cruiser's. In the Lexus, you get a few handy gizmos and a 12.3-inch central display which you can navigate through using a remote touch interface. You also get a rear-seat entertainment system on the LX.
Like the Land Cruiser, the LX, too, is a CBU, but while the LC costs Rs 1.75 crore, the LX 450d has been priced at Rs 3.06 crore (all prices, on-road, Mumbai). The Lexus is more expensive by almost Rs 1.31 crore. You could have a Land Cruiser and a Mercedes-Benz GLS for the price of an LX and still have plenty of change left...
