Ever heard of driving modes on a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV)? No, nor did we, up until now. Mahindra has launched the new Maxximo Plus mini-truck that replaces its current workhorse, the Maxximo, in its LCV line-up.

Apart from a longer wheelbase and a strengthened rear suspension, the Maxximo Plus also gets switchable driving modes - a first for mini-trucks in India. 'Power' mode provides 26bhp of power to the driver, which would come in handy when carrying heavy loads or delivering goods to faraway locations, whereas 'Eco' mode helps the truck stretch the litre a bit more than usual, with a claimed economy figure of 21.9kpl.

Speaking on the occasion, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, "At Mahindra, our endeavour has always been to use Alternative Thinking with deep consumer insight in a bid to provide superior value to our customers. The new Maxximo Plus mini-truck delivers on this endeavour with the pioneering but simple-to-use Fuel Smart technology, superior engine performance and superior load carrying capability. We are sure that the new Maxximo Plus will go a long way in helping our customer prosper in life, which is in keeping with our philosophy of Rise."

The Maxximo Plus gets a 2 years/60,000kms warranty, and is priced at Rs 3.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane) for the BS3 version.
