A number of carmakers such as Hyundai, Honda, Datsun, Nissan and Audi have increased the prices of their offerings this year. And it seems like more and more carmakers are joining this list. Maruti Suzuki and Mercedes-Benz have announced that they are going to increase the price of their entire range. While Maruti has increased the prices by Rs 6,100, Mercedes-Benz has increased the prices by 4 per cent.

Both the carmakers have said that due to the increase in commodity and distribution costs and adverse foreign exchange rates, they had to increase the price of their entire model line-up. While the new prices for Maruti Suzuki badged cars will come in to effect from today i.e. August 16, the revised prices for Mercedes-Benz cars will come in to effect from September 1, 2018.

The first-half of 2018 has been proven to be quite a blockbuster for both the manufacturers. The Indian carmaker crossed the 20 million production milestone and the German is currently ruling the luxury car sales chart by quite a margin over its competitors. But will this price hike slow down the growth of these behemoths is yet to be seen.
