Maruti's new MPV, Ertiga
Would go on sale before the end of first quarter...
The country's largest carmaker Maruti finally took the wraps off its seven-seater MPV, the Ertiga.
The car looks similar to the Innova from a distance but is smaller in size. Based on an extended Swift platform the Ertiga is 4.2 metres in length, which means it won't get the excise tax benefits given to small cars under 4-metres.
The car face looks like a combination of the Ritz and Swift. The dashboard has been borrowed from the Swift as well but gets beige colour instead of black. The second row of seats has enough space but the last row seems cramped. This row can be folded away for greater luggage space.
The Ertiga is powered by an all-new 1.4 litre petrol K-series engine with 95bhp along with the 1.3-litre DDiS motor. It will go on sale before the first quarter ends and we expect it to be prices to start at around Rs 7 lakh.
