Five years ago, Lamborghini had stunned the world with its concept car, the Urus. The Italian carmaker was pretty serious about entering the SUV segment. But, unlike Maserati, Lamborghini with the LM002 had some knowledge about this particular segment. And in December 2017, Lamborghini took the wraps off of the world’s first super-SUV, the Urus. And finally, after ten months of waiting, the Italian carmaker has delivered its first Urus in India to a Mumbai-based customer.

The Urus uses the same MLB platform as the Q7, the Porsche Cayenne and the Bentley Bentayga. But, none of these cars share the same traits, mind you. The Urus is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Yes, you read that right. A turbocharged engine. The Urus is the first Lamborghini to be powered by a turbocharged engine. The motor puts out 641bhp and 850Nm of pulling power. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.2-tonne SUV can sprint from standtill to 100kph in 3.6s. And with a top speed of 305kph, not only is the Urus the fastest SUV out there, but it can certainly beat most supercars at their own game.

The Urus gets six drive modes – Strada, Sport, Corsa, Snow, Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (sand). This super SUV rides on 21-inch wheels which is standard and it can be upgraded with a 23 incher. To stop this 2.2 tonne SUV, there is a pair of massive 440mm front and 370mm rear carbon ceramic brakes.
