Ladies and gentlemen, this is the next generation Chevrolet Cruze. And no, this is not an extensive facelift but an all-new car from the bow-tie brand.

As you can see by the softer styling, the next generation car looks all grown up. Its styling is based on Chevrolet's next-generation design language called "Design with a Heartbeat".  The Cruze features coupe-like flowing lines, which seems to be a trend in the mid-sized sedan segment. Though the overall design is good looking, it seems to be hung over on Hyundai’s fluidic design theme.

We have no information on the interiors, but on the outside, the wheels have been pushed out to the corners of the car, so expect the Cruze to have generous legroom, front and back.

The new Cruze comes with the new-generation Ecotec small-displacement engine co-developed by GM and SAIC. It will be available with a turbocharged 1.4-litre and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor. The car is offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission co-developed by GM and SAIC. There's also a six-speed manual transmission developed for Europe.

India will surly get the next generation Cruze sometime in the future, but expect GM to sell it alongside the current generation car. It will get a different name to distinguish it further from the current car and will be placed above the Rs 14 lakh mark to take on the Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia. Excited?
