New Octavia: Fabia with a boot?
Skoda's secret project will be revealed in Frankfurt Motor Show
Skoda is reportedly working on an Octavia successor that will fill the gap between the Fabia and the Laura. The car, internally being called the SK251, will be based on a modified version of the Volkswagen PQ25 platform, which also underpins the Volkswagen Vento. This will be an India-specific model.
The SK251 will have a resemblance to the Fabia – with a boot. If the Vento is any indication, we’re sure this car will also be a looker like its hatch sibling. Considering Skoda’s history with the lift-back design, expect this car to follow in those footsteps.
Skoda intends to make three versions on this platform for different markets. The SK251 will be the first car to be launched based on this platform and will come with the same range of engine options as seen under the Vento’s hood. Launch for this Octavia successor is expected to be the third quarter of 2011, and will cost around Rs 8-10 lakh.
The platform will be unveiled in this year's Frakfurt Motor Show. We'll keep you updated, but feel free to express your opinions below.
