Porsche shows us what they say is most powerful Cayman ever made. The third generation of the Cayman that premiers at the LA show is a completely new car. It has grown in both width and length and has a longer wheelbase and larger wheels.

After the Carrera and the Boxster, this is the third car in Porsche’s line up to boast the lightweight body design. The new Cayman is about 30kg lighter than the model that it replaces. Under the hood is a 2.7-litre flat-six engine that churns out 275bhp and is capable of pushing the car from naught to 100kph in just 5.4 seconds. It can also hit a top whack of 266kph.

If you think you need something more powerful then, you have the Cayman S. That’s powered by a 3.4-litre engine good for 325bhp. If you thought the regular Cayman was slow, then this can hit 100kph from standstill in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 283kph.

Both sport coupés are equipped with the six-speed manual transmission as standard. The seven-speed PDK is available as an option.

Expect the new Cayman to hit the Indian shores in January 2013. As for the price it should set you back by about Rs 70 lakh (approximate, ex-showroom, India).
