New VW Passat launched
Makes parking a whole lot easier
Volkswagen has launched the seventh generation Passat in India... yes it's the one that parks itself.
The car will be sold with a 2.0 litre diesel engine and produces 168 bhp and 380 nm of torque. The Comfortline and Highline variant will come with a six-speed DSG transmission, while the bottom end Trendline variant (which will be launched later) will have a manual six-speed transmission.
The car comes with a host of energy saving features like Start-Stop technology and Brake Energy Recuperation. Our favourite feature, however, is the very awesome Park assist which selects a spot and park the car for you.
Sadly you still can't abandon the car in the middle of the road and expect it to find a cosy spot for itself just yet. A driver is still required in the car to override the system if anything goes wrong.
Other features include an MP3 player with six-CD changer, and Attention Assist, which detects the drivers fatigue level.
The ex-showroom Delhi prices are — Rs. 20,80,000 for the Trendline, Rs. 23,80,000 for the Comfortline and Rs. 25,65,000 for the Highline. Bookings start on March 30th.
