Nissan launches entry-level Micra Diesel XE
Refreshed Micra range gets a cheap new diesel base variant
When Nissan launched its refreshed Micra over a couple of months back, there was no real base variant to speak of across the range. If you wanted to buy the facelift, you had to choose between the mid or top-spec version. But if a true base variant is what you wanted, Nissan is now offering the XE trim on the diesel-powered Micra.
The diesel XE, priced at Rs 5.57 lakh (ex-Delhi), is about 40k-odd cheaper than the XL, which was the cheapest version of the facelifted diesel Micra you could buy up until now. The XE gets basics like an aircon, tilt-adjustable power steering, a tachometer and a drive computer. It also gets a driver airbag, which is very much welcome. However, you do miss out on stuff like painted ORVMs and door handles, wheel covers, power windows, central locking and remote keyless entry. Also, there's no body-coloured bumpers on the XE. Why would you do that, Nissan? Even the Micra Active's base variant gets painted bumpers, and that's well over Rs 2 lakh cheaper than this.
