For those of you who like the Renault Pulse but didn't buy one until now because of it lacking a petrol engine and an affordable base variant, Renault India have just launched the Pulse with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine.

The engine, manufactured at Renault-Nissan's alliance plant in Oragadam, Chennai, is the same unit as that of the Nissan Micra. Displacing 1198cc, the 3-pot motor produces 75 bhp and 104Nm of torque, and power is sent to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol Pulse returns 18.06kpl according to ARAI's test figures.

The petrol engine also gets a new base version - named RxE, in addition to the existing RxL and RxZ trims. The RxE comes with essentials like a driver airbag, electronic power steering, central locking, air conditioning, follow-me headlamps etc. In addition to the RxE's features, the RxL gets front and rear power windows, an integrated audio system and rear wash and wipe and in addition to the RxL's features, the range-topping RxZ gets a passenger airbag, ABS with EBD, climate control, rear defogger with timer, front fog lamps, start-stop button, smart access key and electric-folding ORVMs.

The Pulse Petrol RxE retails at Rs 4.25 lakh, the RxL at Rs 4.99 lakh and the RxZ at Rs 5.55 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes with a 2+2 year/80,000km warranty as standard.
