This seems to be the year of the compacts, as we have seen from some of the recent launches. Looks like Fiat doesn't want to miss out on that action.

Enter Viaggio (voyage in English and its Chinese name Fei Xiang meaning flying), the first Fiat-Chrysler twin project that's soon to hit China’s compact sedan segment. All that Fiat has revealed so are are these few teaser snapshots, with the official unveiling planned for April 23rd at the Beijing Auto Show.

But we do have some details - The new Fiat Viaggio is a four-door, five-passenger sedan based on the CUSW (Compact US Wide) architecture, which is also the basis of the new Dodge Dart. The car is sized at 4,679mm in length, 1,850mm in overall width and a 2,708mm wheelbase. It will be the only car in its segment to exclusively offer sophisticated turbo-charged engines; the 1.4L Tjet in both 120hp and 150hp outputs matched to either a 5-speed manual transmission or the latest Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT) developed by Fiat Powertrain.

The new Fiat sedan will be the first car to be produced in the new Gac-Fiat World Class Manufacturing plant in Changsha, Hunan province. The first cars will be produced from July and will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

Considering how close it seems to be to the Linea, and the fact that it's being manufactured in China, this could be making it's way to India next year. What do you think TopGearheads?
