SRT reveals Viper GTS Launch Edition
You want a 2013 Viper with Big Fat White Stripes? You got it. There’s also 640bhp…
This is the new SRT Viper GTS ‘Launch Edition'. As you can see, it's very pleased to see you. It's making a debut at this weekend's car-based shenanigans at Pebble Beach in California, showing off some Blue And White.
Specifically, the blue and white showcased on previous Viper launches - the Vipers that came in 1996 and 2006 - and this continues that tradition of releasing a new model with big fat white stripes running across the length of that gloriously long bonnet.
The SRT also gets a new set of polished, five-spoke forged-aluminium alloy wheels too, while the new Viper logo - dubbed ‘Stryker' - appears on the bonnet and steering wheel. It's only the third Viper logo ever, the first two being "Sneaky Pete" (not some bizarre sexual practice) and "Fang".
Inside, the Launch Edition Viper gets a dash plaque - said to improve collectability - along with black ‘Laguna' leather and contrasting stitching adorning the seats, doors, instrument panel, steering wheel, grab handles, gearstick and centre console.
Sadly - or not sadly, depending on your appreciation of self flagellation - the Viper's 8.4-litre V10 remains untouched, and thus power remains at 640bhp and 813Nm of torque. This is plenty in a rear-wheel-drive car. Plenty. Especially considering the body is made from aluminium and carbon fibre.
