Superbike rider loses a wheel

Supersonic team racer Maxime Berger parts ways with a quite important bike piece

Of 'really bad things to happen while bike racing', losing a wheel mid-corner probably trumps most things. And that includes a mobile urinary tract exam.

Pity poor Maxime Berger, then. The privateer racer's Ducati suffered ‘unexpected rim failure' at last weekend's Work Superbike Championship at Donington Park, which caused the bike to excommunicate its rear wheel halfway through the corner.

Thankfully, Berger emerged unscathed, and later said: "I am speechless." We can think of a few words we may have uttered had we been in her position...
