Tata names its upcoming SUV ‘Harrier’
Remember the big, auburn concept SUV from Tata? Well, it's got a name now and will be production-ready by the first half of 2019
During this year’s Auto Expo, Tata had unveiled two concept cars (the H5X and the 45X), and both were well received by the audience. And soon after that, images of the H5X surfaced on the internet which showed Tata testing its upcoming SUV. Now, Tata Motors has decided on a name for the SUV – the Harrier. The Tata Harrier will roll off the production line early next year.
“With turnaround 2.0 into play, we are geared to win sustainably in the market. We are proudly speeding towards our next market introduction – ‘Tata Harrier’, yet another game changer, to offer our customers a product, which is not only exciting but that which will take our brand value to the next level," says Mayank Pareek, President, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors.
The five-seater SUV uses the ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’ architecture, which is developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover. This architecture will be the backbone for all the new SUVs that roll out from Tata’s production plant. Not only does the Harrier use an all-new platform, but it also uses a new design language called the ‘IMPACT Design 2.0’.
While Maruti Suzuki is still reigning the sales chart, Tata with 38 per cent increase in their sales has shown a positive growth and has surpassed carmakers such as Honda, Ford and Toyota.
