Toyota Liva delayed
The Etios hatchback now set to launch in June
Toyota has pushed back the launch of its much-awaited small hatchback, the Liva. Facing a pent up demand for its newly launched small sedan, the Etios, the company has decided to reschedule the launch of its most affordable Indian car to date to June. This is among other steps taken by Toyota Kirloskar, like adding a shift at its newly-opened second plant near Bangalore.
Etios customers are facing a huge waiting period for the model – in some cases as much as five months – to get delivery. In a bid to not further increase the production lines burden by opening bookings of the Liva, Toyota will now concentrate on getting the Etios off the line.
Toyota's new plant has the annual production capability of as many as 70,000 units. Right now they're ramping up production of the Etios to 2,500 units per month.
