Updated Nissan Evalia out now
New top variant gets captain seats, sliding windows, rear AC and 15-inch alloy wheels
A year after it first launched the Evalia in India, Nissan brings an updated version of its people mover. While this boxy-looking MPV had a sorted drive and handled reasonably well from the onset, the cabin did have a few niggles that forced many private customers to look elsewhere.
Following gloomy sales over the past 12 months, Nissan has paid heed to some of the customer feedback and that brings us to the new top-of-the-line XV and XV Optional variants. The MPV now gets features like captain seats for the middle row, roof-mounted rear AC, rear wiper and defogger. For those feeling claustrophobic sitting at the back, Nissan has also added new sliding windows for the middle row seat.
The lower trim levels still run on puny 14-inch wheels, but the top-end variants can boast of 15-inch alloy wheels that apart from offering stability, enhance the overall stance to some extent. Then there’s also a lid for the glovebox that was left exposed earlier, and a double-DIN audio system with USB connectivity.
Mechanically nothing has changed and it continues to be powered by the 84bhp, 1.5-litre diesel motor teamed with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Nissan claims the Evalia will run over 19km for a litre. Other features include ABS + EBD, brake assist, engine immobiliser, airbags, follow-me headlamps, electrically-foldable rear-view mirrors and reverse parking camera.
Prices for the entry-level XE variant start from Rs 8.78 lakh while the XE+ is priced at Rs 9.22 lakh. The XL and XL Option variants are priced at Rs 9.8 lakh and 10.05 lakh respectively. With new features, the XV and XV Option variants cost Rs 10.48 lakh and Rs 10.73 lakh in that order (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
