Toyota Kirloskar India has launched the updated version of its hybrid sedan, the Camry at Rs 37.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the exterior remains untouched as does the drivetrain, the 2018 Camry gets minor changes in the interior.

The updated Camry gets a redesigned interior. With a new shade of leather covering almost every panel inside the car, the hybrid sedan gets wood finish on the dashboard, steering wheel and arm rests. Along with the addition of these new design elements, the 2018 Camry is also equipped with a head-up display, an infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, three-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers and for those who are always in search for a power socket, there’s also wireless charging.

The 2018 Camry hybrid uses the same engine as the previous one, but the Japanese carmaker claims that it is now more fuel efficient – 19.16kpl. The Hybrid sedan is powered by two motors – an electric one and a petrol motor. The 650V electric motor produces a peak power of 141bhp while the 2.0-litre, in-line, 4 pot petrol engine has peak outputs of 159bhp and 213Nm, and the total system output is 202bhp. This system is mated to an E-CVT gearbox.

In terms of safety, the Camry Hybrid gets nine airbags, ABS, EBD, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, lane change indicator, speed sensing auto-lock, among other features. The Hybrid Camry goes up against the other hybrid available –  the Honda Accord. The Accord is more expensive than the Camry by around Rs 6 lakh which makes a strong case for the Camry.
