You may have noticed a strange orb in the sky emitting a lot of heat and light these days. It's called the ‘Sun', and we may be getting a bit too much of it these days.

But, while you're out having drinks topped with ice and eating soggy cucumber sandwiches, spare a thought for the McLaren P1. The superlative McLaren supercar has not been allowed to bathe in heat. No. It's been packed off to a frozen lake in a colder part of the world and told to work.

Why? Because development of this astonishing 916bhp petrol-electric machine is coming to an end, with just enough time to carry out some more testing. On ice. More specifically, some ice in the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden.

Have a watch of the video below to see the P1's 903bhp kick out the rear wheels and have a bit of fun. All in the name of durability testing, naturally. Once development has been completed - and it's nearly there - McLaren is planning a number of ‘dynamic displays' across the summer, so keep your eyes peeled.
