Intake: Misty mountain hop
Here’s a snapshot of everything that happened at this year's Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey
There’s just something about the mountains. They tend to make you feel cold, miserable and hate the moment sometimes. But every single time you look at them in your rear-view mirror, you yearn to go back. Perhaps this is why I always jump at a chance to ride into the Himalayas. Nothing beats the music of the mountains. The sense of peace, tranquillity and beauty is second to none. Of course, if you have the right motorcycle for the job, it only adds to this sensory overload. Now you understand why we jumped at the invitation to take part in the 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey. And like always, this time too, had us taking in the sights and sounds of the mighty Himalayas on the motorcycle that was made exactly for this – the Himalayan.
Almost all of the roads are now black top. But there are enough off-road stretches to let you have some fun.
There’s a fully equipped team of technical support crew at the Odyssey, but at times, you want to fix it yourself.
Every new day presents new challenges. This means the day starts with a briefing about the route, pitstops and weather.
Ladakh is the spiritual home of RE, so it’s natural to see so many around.
There’s no better place to unleash the Himalayan than at its spiritual home - the Himalayas
