Okinawa Ridge+ launched at Rs 65,000

Last year, Okinawa had launched two electric scooters in India – Praise and Ridge. Both the scooters were priced at around Rs 60,000 so that they can compete against the myriad of petrol-powered scooters. And now, the manufacturer has launched a new variant of the Ridge called, err, Ridge+. Priced at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom), the only extra feature that the Ridge+ variant gets is this: a detachable lithium-ion battery.

The Ridge+ is powered by the same 800W motor that we have seen in the Ridge. The manufacturer claims that electric scooter has a top speed of 55kph and can cover 120km on a full charge. “Equipped with a micro-charger featuring auto-cut that gets the scooter up and running in two hours flat,” says Jeetender Sharma, MD, Okinawa Autotech.

In terms of features, for an electric scooter that costs as much as any normal petrol-powered scooter, it is quite loaded. It is equipped with features such as central locking, anti-theft alarm, a keyless entry, E-ABS (Electronic-Assisted Braking System) with regenerative energy and a Find My Scooter Function that allows you to remotely locate your scooter. The electric scooter is available in two paint options –orange/ grey and blue.
