Tata is hosting the four season of the T1 Prima truck racing championship, featuring its Prima trucks, built and tuned for the purpose. The race will be conducted under the aegis of FIA and FMSCI.
Tata Motors had started the preparations for season four back in 2016 with the second edition of its T1 Racer Program, or TRP 2.0, which is a motorsports driver training and selection program for the championship. Of all the applicants, ten Indian truckers get shortlisted to race on the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. That is where Season 4 of the truck racing championship will be held on March 19.
There are three categories in the championship: Super Class which will feature the top 10 racers from TRP 2.0; Champion Class will feature the top ten truckers from TRP 1.0; and the Pro Class with twelve international truck racers hashing it out on the track.
Tata Motors states that the championship will reinforce its commitment of introducing Indian truckers to the sport and thereby making the profession of trucking seem aspirational and help induct more drivers into it.
