Another player has emerged in the sea of phone makers in India and launched, this, the flagship Note, at the first go, aiming at tapping the lower end of the spectrum with its large display, big-capacity battery and 3GB RAM. Infinix, a Hong-Kong based firm started operations in 2013 and has entered India to share a piece of pie with the likes of Redmi, Motorola, Vivo, Oppo and others.

The first model out of the two-model line-up is the Note4. On paper, it’s got specifications to make you turn away from more established brands. It’s got a Mediatek MT6753 OctaCore 1.3Ghz Processor and 3GB RAM at its disposal and 32GB of memory. Things like starting up, handling regularly used apps and processing pictures is done well and without any hang-ups but things start to slow down when you make an attempt at playing games that need a lot of resources, things begin to slow down.

It’s got a 4300mAH battery that powers the phone for over one and half day with regular use. And with that, we mean obsessive use of social media apps, navigation, plenty of video playback and things like that. We’re happy to report that it outperformances its chief rival, the Redmi Note 4 in terms of battery power. The display is bright even for day-time use indoor and outdoor and even with a large screen, single-hand use isn’t much of a problem.

A bit of a spoiler in the Infinix’s game is the quality of camera. It works just fine with natural colours and adequate exposure in daylight, but the quality of pictures is just average once the light goes out. Video too is a similar case, where it matches the colour tones well, but doesn’t fair too well in low-light conditions.

Overall, it matches with the performance of its rivals, and importantly the Redmi Note4, has a good battery life, but falls behind compared to its rivals with the cam quality. It’s a good bet if you’re ready to break the convention and experiment with a new brand. And yes, it’s well built and looks good in Milan Black.
