Talking on your cell phone while driving in any form can be dangerous, but if you have to do it, you might as well use a kit that doesn't distract you from driving or makes you take your eyes off the road or your hands off the steering. Which is why this steering mounted Bluetooth car handsfree kit from Blaupunkt is just right.
The elastic strap with velcro edges helps mount the kit on the inside of any steering wheel. Where you place it is entirely up to your driving style. Everything functions with a single button press on the kit, which makes it incredibly easy to use under all driving situations. There's just an additional front-facing volume adjustment switch. The unit itself is well built, and fitted perfectly on a variety of steering wheels we tried it on.
Connecting a phone to it was a piece of cake, and the big speaker right upfront made all conversations crystal clear. Overall the device worked great, but there is one thing you should mind while placing the device. Since everything happens with that one call button on the 411, you tend to sometimes accidentally press it and dial your last called number or even call a random number via voice dial. We encountered this a number of times until we strapped it to the top of the steering wheel where it would be a bit less accident-dial prone.
That said, the Blaupunkt BT Drive Free 411 was very convenient to use and it would be hard going for any other after-market Bluetooth kit after being pampered with this.
