Trek Madone SLR and SL launched
Fancy a high-end bicycle with racing pedigree that costs as much as a small hatchback?
If you are looking to buy a high-end bicycle and if you have pockets filled with cash, then let us introduce you to these two gems – the Madone SLR and SL. Trek, the US-based bicycle manufacturer has announced that these two top-of-the-line bicycles are now available in India on special requests. The SLR and the SL range retails in the US from USD 6,000 to USD 12,000; as per the current exchange rate, that translates to Rs 4.23 lakh to Rs 8.46 lakh. And if you prefer four-wheels, then you have quite a lot of options in this price range. Just saying.
What makes these bicycles so expensive? Well, for starters, the manufacturer has used a lot of carbon to make it as light as possible; due to a full carbon body and carbon forks, the Madone tips the scale at 7.65kg. The KVF (Kammtail Virtual Foil) tube shape has been redesigned to enhance the aerodynamics of the bicycle. It is equipped with disc brakes, new two-piece aero bar stem and adjustable top tube IsoSpeed.
Trek claims that the updated IsoSpeed is more efficient than the previous Madone model; it reduces the recoil by 13 per cent. And oh, John Degenkolb (from Trek-Segafredo team) won the stage 9 of the Tour de France 2019 on the Madone SLR.
